Man Utd lead to seal signing of £84million star – Report

Darwin Nunez - Uruguay

Cristiano Ronaldo has so far netted 16 goals in the Premier League. If he gets 4 more in the remaining 4 games, he will become the first player since Robin van Persie (2012-13) to score 20 PL goals in a season for Manchester United.

The Portuguese superstar is not the problem but without a doubt, he is not the long-term solution. The veteran will turn 38 next year and we need a young replacement.

Transfer: Man Utd have offered £160,000 a week deal to sign star, but in vain

If reports in the media are anything to go by then Man Utd are leading the race to seal the signing of Uruguayan international, Darwin Nunez.

As per a report published by AS, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and the Red Devils are interested in luring the 22-year-old striker from Benfica.

The famous Spanish media outlet have claimed that the English clubs are expected to hold talks with Jorge Mendes and at the moment, Man Utd lead to secure his signing.

Incoming manager, Erik ten Hag, has specifically requested the club to sign the young center forward, who has so far scored 33 goals in all competitions for the Eagles this term. AS report that it will take at least a fee of 100 million euros (£84million) to sign the player from Benfica

In all fairness, Man Utd will likely fail to qualify for the next season’s CL and if that happens then it would be hard to attract a top player like Nunez. He impressed big time in the Champions League with goals against top sides like Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Ajax and Liverpool.

Liverpool and City will take part in Europe’s premier competition next season and for now, Arsenal are in pole position to get the final qualification spot from the Premier League.

  1. United are CL proof… the pull of the biggest club in the world is really strong; just look at the players signed without Champions League football… if they really go after him, they’ll get him
