Club want £21.3million capital gain as Man Utd lead to secure signing – Report

Old Trafford

Manchester United leaked 57 goals in the Premier League last term and it is not surprising that they have moved in to strengthen the backline on a priority.

Deals have been secured for Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez and lately, the name of Denzel Dumfries has been on the radar.

According to Calcio Mercato, due to the presence of Erik ten Hag, Man Utd are leading the race to sign the Dutch international from Inter Milan this summer.

The Nerazzurri want a capital gain of 25 million euros (£21.3million) from the versatile defender’s sale. He was bought for just 15 million euros and the Serie A side now look to offload him for 40 million euros.

Dumfries had an impressive season with the Italian club last term. He mainly played in the right wing-back position under Inzaghi, scored 5 goals and provided as many assists in 21 league starts.

Man United need more productivity from their fullbacks in the attacking third. Last season, Dalot and Wan-Bissaka mainly played in the right-back position.

The duo played a combined 55 games in all competitions and apart from being shaky at the back, shockingly, they were not able to directly contribute in even a single goal.

So, it makes complete sense for Ten Hag to move for a versatile and experienced fullback like Denzel Dumfries. Should the Red Devils secure his signing?
