Manchester United have not improved their midfield department since signing Fred in the summer transfer window of 2018.
If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are favorites to hire the services of French midfielder Boubakary Soumare, who was linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer as well.

Back in August last year, Foot Mercato revealed that the Lille defensive midfielder has won over the 20-time English champions. However, in the end, Solskajer did not move to sign him.
As per the latest update provided by Italian journalist Vito Angele on The Italian Football Podcast (via ES), Man Utd are leading to finally secure the signing of the 21-year-old star.
“Man Utd are working on him and they are the favourites to sign him right now. Lille are also asking a high price for him which is too much for Milan.”
Soumare will be out of contract in less than 2 years (June 2022) and as per a report covered by Foot Mercato last month, he could be lured for a fee of 20 million euros (£18million).
This season, the former PSG player has been in top form for Lille, who are just a single point behind league leaders Lyon at the moment. In 15 league appearances, so far, the play brekaer has helped the team keep no fewer than 7 clean sheets.
In recent years, Man Utd have spent a lot to strengthen their back-line but they really need to sign a top quality defensive midfielder, who would be able to provide a solid cover in front of the defense.
Veteran Nemanja Matic is still the team’s only specialist play breaker, who is past his best and normally warms the bench under the management of Solskjaer. In such a scenario, Boubakary Soumare would be a top signing.
In your view, should Ole splash £18million to finally secure his signing this month?
