Man Utd make final check, could move to sign £51million midfielder

Boubakary Soumare France

Manchester United have been linked with Lille’s Boubakary Soumare in the past few weeks and reports suggest that the Red Devils scouted him at the weekend.

If reports in the media are anything to go by (The Express) then ahead of a possible transfer move, Man Utd made one final check to monitor the performance of the 20-year-old defensive midfielder when Lille collided against Dijon last night.

Transfer: Man Utd prepared to agree £17million terms to secure signing – Report

Soumare, who has been impressive for the Ligue 1 club this season, unfortunately failed to shine vs Dijon, who won the contest against Lille.

The youngster was booked in the first half and was substituted in the second half in the 67th minute of the game when the opposition were leading 1-0.

Now, it will be intriguing to see whether United will make a move for the Fremchman or not. In all fairness we desperately need to sign a strong play-breaker, who can provide a solid cover in front of our back four.

Signing top defenders like Maguire and Wan-Bissaka have not really strengthened things at the back. We have still conceded goals on regular basis and kept just 4 clean sheets in 22 league fixtures thus far.

Matic, who is our only natural holding midfielder, was mainly a bench warmer at the start of the campaign. After that, the Serbian got injured and nowadays, he has only got into the starting XI because the likes of McTominay and Pogba are sidelined due to injuries.

Therefore the former Chelsea DM should be replaced and reports even suggest that he is linked with a move to MLS (The Sun). In your view, should Man Utd move to sign Boubakary Soumare to reinforce their midfield? The youngster’s current contract with the French club will expire in 2022 and he is valued at around £51million (La Voix Du Nord).
