Man Utd move into high gear to finally sign £89million star – Face competition

Koulibaly and Skriniar

Manchester United have been linked with Koulibaly for a very long time and the latest reports indicate that now the Red Devils have moved into high gear to finally sign him.

The Old Trafford outfit wanted to sign the Senegalese superstar last summer (Corriere dello Sport,) but in end, he stayed with Napoli and Solskjaer opted to break the bank to lure Harry Maguire from Leicester City instead.

Transfer: Rep wants £120,000-a-week star to agree Man United move above all – Report

Back in February, we covered a report (via Mirror Sport) claiming that the 20-time English champions are determined to sign the 28-year-old defender in the summer transfer window.

As per the latest update provided by Le10Sport, Man Utd have moved into high gear to sign Koulibaly, who is valued at around 100 million euros (£89million) by the Serie A club.

The famous French source have revealed that the Red Devils face heavy competition from rivals and PL leaders Liverpool, who are currently the favorites to lure the Senegal captain, who has won his country’s Player of the Year prize twice.

The European Champions do have Koulibaly’s compatriot in their ranks in the form of star winger Sadio Mane.

The African defender was included in the Serie A Team of the Year four years in a row (from 2015-16 to 2018-19), so, it is evident that he is one of the best center backs around.

However, the main question is, do we really need him at Old Trafford? Maguire has been rock solid for us and deservedly wears the captain’s armband.

Since his arrival, our back-line has largely improved and we have conceded fewer goals as compared to last season. So, our focus should be to reinforce other key areas on the pitch. In your view, do we need to sign a center back this summer? Should Solskjaer splash £89million to finally sign Koulibaly?

  1. We cld need him. Imagine if Maguire got a long term injury who would secure our defense? No dependable options to take us through.

  2. This is the best news I have heard about transfer this month. We need Koulibaly badly to partner with Harry Maguire.
He is no doubt a good center back that a big team like Man U need.

  3. To stay on its steady growth trajectory, Manchester should endeavor to sign only Werner/Dembele and Sancho
