With West Ham out of the race, Man Utd are now closing in on signing Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, as per reports.

A few days ago, The Mirror revealed that the Bavarians value their prized asset at £25m.

The Hammers were able to agree a discount deal worth 20 million euros but were unable to agree on personal terms and the deal collapsed.

Now, Man Utd are closing in and have reached an advanced stage to sign Mazraoui from the German giants.

According to AZ, West Ham were unable to secure an agreement with the 26-year-old defender’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta and the deal collapsed.

Now, Man Utd are in advanced talks with Bayern Munich to close the signing of the Moroccan international.

Mazraoui has made 28 appearances for the African nation, but he was born in the Netherlands and made over appearances for Ajax under the management of Erik ten Hag, before leaving for Germany.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the Man Utd manager is looking to reunite with yet another former player at Old Trafford.

However, last season, United suffered several key injuries in the defensive third and it does not make any sense to sign a player who spent majority of the time on the treatment table.

Mazraoui, who reached the semi finals of the 2022 World Cup with the Atlas Lions, had an injury hit campaign and only started 15 games in the Bundesliga.

Everton’s former Chief, Wyness, told Football Insider:

“His injury record isn’t the best. Of course, United will do medicals but they don’t often give you the full story about the long-term resilience of a player.”

Have your say – Should Man Utd agree a deal with Bayern Munich to secure Mazraoui?
