Man Utd now prepared to pay deferred wages to sign £490,000 a week star – Report

De Jong and De Ligt - Netherlands

Manchester United have already agreed a fee with Barcelona to sign De Jong but the player has been dragging his feet for multiple reasons.

As per a recent story covered by The Telegraph, the Red Devils were assured that the midfielder will join once the pending amount (at Barca’s end) worth £17million in deferred wages is paid to him.

Transfer: Man United have actually agreed £54.4million deal for signing – Got played

Three days ago, renowned Spanish sources suggested that the Old Trafford outfit do not want to pay De Jong, who earns a gross salary of £490,000 a week, the deferred wages to get his signing done.

However, yesterday, Sport revealed that now, Man Utd are prepared to pay almost the same amount of his salary that was deferred to finally hire his services.

It is reported that they are making a huge effort to get the deal over the line but the former Ajax man, who has traveled with Barcelona to the US, is still not sure about signing for the Red Devils.

Despite all the pressure, the 25-year-old midfielder is reluctant to leave and Man Utd, who cannot offer CL football, really need to look at other options.

De Jong’s agent, Ali Dursun, has already told the Old Trafford bosses (Sport) to give up the pursuit of the central midfielder, who has recently bought a house in Barcelona and is happy in the City with his girlfriend.

If Man Utd do end up failing to sign Frenkie de Jong, then who should Ten Hag lure to strengthen things in the center of the park this summer?
