Man Utd have enough and more headaches to cure in the next few months. The Red Devils had a disastrous 2024/25 season across all competitions and they now need to find a way to stay relevant in the upcoming campaign.

Ruben Amorim’s first few months in charge have been disastrous to say the least but the Portuguese tactician will know that he is going to be judged by what he can do in the pre-season and how he reshapes a squad that is awfully mediocre at the moment.

The Old Trafford side need reinforcements all over the pitch and among those, the midfield is one area that they might be looking at.

As per Caught Offside, Man Utd are plotting a move to beat Liverpool to sign talented Feyenoord midfielder, Quinten Timber.

Quinten Timber on Premier League radar

A product of the Ajax academy, the Dutch midfielder joined Feyenoord in 2022. He played a key role under current Liverpool manager Arne Slot and the manager is looking to reunite with him at Anfield as he looks to build on his Premier League winning season.

Timber has a contract with the Eredivisie club until 2026 and the report mentions that Feyenoord are willing to let him go for around £25.3million should he refuse to sign a new deal. It makes sense that they want to cash in on him this summer.

Clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are interested in the player. In 26 games across all competitions this season, he has scored six goals and provided one assist. These numbers might have been better had he not suffered a season-ending injury.

Timber sustained damage to his external lateral ligaments in February. It has since kept him out of action.

The 23-year-old will be keen to make a successful return from injury and it remains to be seen if clubs are willing to take a bet on him before he proves his fitness.

At Man Utd, where Ruben Amorim requires a complete midfielder to fit into his system, Timber fits the bill. He can defend, control and attack and it would be a very sensible signing for Man Utd. It remains to be seen how things play out with regards to this transfer saga.
