Man Utd positive they’ll secure signing of £80million playmaker next year – Report

Pochettino Solskjaer

After spending a lot of cash to secure key signings in the summer transfer window, we hoped that Man United will be competing for the title.

Unfortunately, as it stands, the Red Devils are not even in the race to qualify for the Champions League, instead, they are two points above the relegation zone with just 10 points in 9 Premier League fixtures.

Transfer: Man Utd eager to sign forward with £27million release clause – Face competition

So, we need to bounce back as soon as possible and for that, Solskjaer should secure adewuately reinforce the squad. In the past few months, we have been heavily linked with England international James Maddison and the Leicester City star is once again in the lime light.

According to an exclusive report covered by Manchester Evening News, Man Ud are positive they’ll secure the signing of the 22-year-old, who could command a similar fee (£80million) to Maguire.

MEN have claimed that the Red Devils are encouraged about the fact that Maddison is a boyhood Man United fan and a close friend of our star defender Harry Maguire.

Maddison can play anywhere in the attacking third but mainly, he plays in the central attacking midfield, a position where United clearly lack quality and depth and therefore, must be strengthened.

In the last campaign, the former Norwich playmaker directly contributed in 14 goals for the Foxes and scored three strikes from direct free-kicks. This season, so far, he has netted 3 goals and provided 2 assists in 9 appearances under Brendan Rodgers in all competitions.

Since the start of the last campaign, no one has created more chances than the £80million-rated attacking midfielder (The Sun).

In your view, is Maddison worth £80million? Should United move to sign him next year?
