According to Catalan source, Nacional, Jim Ratcliffe has prepared an initial offer of 45 million euros (£37.8m) to hire the services of Zubimendi for Man Utd in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old star’s current contract with Sociedad will expire in three years and it has a release clause of £50.5m (60 million euros).
The news outlet claim the Txuri-Urdin will only allow their prized asset to leave if the £50.5m clause in his contract is activated.
Zubimendi is a versatile talent, who mainly features in the No.6 role as a play breaker cum deep lying playmaker, but can also be deployed in the CM role.
In the last campaign, the 6-capped Spaniard made 31 appearances in the La Liga, and directly contributed in 5 goals.
He is part of the La Roja squad at the European championships so any move away from Sociedad will materialize after the completion of the competition next month.
Man Utd need a quality No.6., regista, to replace Casemiro at Old Trafford and Zubimendi would be a top signing to partner Mainoo in the center of the park.
