Real Madrid are trying to hold on to Raphael Varane but reports suggest that they are unable to make an offer to convince him to stay.
On the other hand, Manchester United are prepared to meet the defender’s salary demands to get his signing done.
Transfer: Man Utd make contact to finally sign £115,000-a-week player who wants OT move
According to Defensa Central, the Red Devils are determined to secure the signing of the French international in the summer transfer window and they offer a salary that the Los Blancos cannot match.
The Spanish news source have mentioned that the 13-time European Champions are willing to offer a deal worth 9 million euros a season to extend Varane’s stay at the Bernabeu. However, the Les Bleus star wants more.
It is stated that the former Lens player is asking for a salary of 12 million euros per year i.e. around £199,000-a-week and Man Utd are prepared to agree the terms to hire his services.
DC claim that the Los Blancos would not allow the 28-year-old star to leave for free and if he does not extend his stay, then they will negotiate his sale. It is further claimed that Man Utd have not yet started talks with Madrid, who rate the defender at 70 million euros. His decision to leave is clear and only returning manager Carlo Ancelotti could change his mind.
Raphael Varane is one of the best defenders in the world. He has won the European Cup on four occasions with Real Madrid and was a key member of the France squad that lifted the World Cup in 2018.
