Man Utd prepared to agree £240,000 a week deal to sign £21million star – Report

Manchester United are looking to improve the central defense and Manuel Akanji has been linked for some time.

Last month, Bild reported that Borussia Dortmund have offered a deal worth 8 million euros per season to the Swiss international, who currently earns around 5 million euros per season and is rated at around £21million.

Transfer: Man Utd can secure £41.9million signing in three months – Face competition

More recently, the renowned German news source have mentioned that BvB’s contract offer was rejected by the 26-year-old star, who wants 10 million euros per season, and the Bundesliga club are still trying to tie him down to a long term contract.

It is stated that Old Trafford boss, Ralf Rangnick, is keen on luring the former FC Basel defender and is willing to pay him more than his demand to get the signing done.

Bild claim that Man Utd are prepared to agree a deal that will make the player earn 15 million euros per season i.e. around £240,000 a week.

Dortmund are in a tight title race with rivals Bayern and Akanji has been a key player for them. For Switzerland, he has so far earned 38 caps and was influential in their World Cup 2022 qualification campaign.

Manchester United have spent a lot on center halves over the years but they need to realize that skipper, Harry Maguire, who has been poor this season, is just not good enough and needs to be replaced.

In such a scenario, do you think Man Utd should agree a £240,000 a week deal to sign Manuel Akanji in the summer transfer window?

  1. Yes Please. Everywhere in the world people are saying strip him of captaincy and have him replaced. WHY HAVE THEY NOT DONE IT YET

  2. Akanji will be a good addition to our team. He can play as defensive midfielder and a center back based on my assessment on him. He is a great lady with a big heart.
Man U should allow the tired legs to go to create room for the incoming players. At least not less than 6 players should allow to go.
Players such as, Mata, Jones, Lingard, Rashford, Cavani, Van De Beek etc, should be allowed to leave, to go for the best of best.
Areas I feel that need to be strengthened are, center back, defensive midfield, forward, right wing and 1 or 2 full backs.
With this, we will be able to challenge the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea for the EPL trophy and compete favourably for the Champions league. Then again, become a United with a great fear factor.

  3. Well, bringing akanji to old trafford is actually a good idea. But Honestly, the problem is that Ralf Rangnick doesn’t know his job. If he can have the likes of wan-bissaka and baily and still keep them on the bench even with the way maguire and dalot have been struggling then i fear he may end up bringing akanji and not using him. That man called rangnick is a flop.
