Manchester United have the world’s most expensive defender, Harry Maguire, in their ranks and he partners a world-class center half in the form of Raphael Varane.
Still, things at the back have been terrible in the current campaign. Why? Because the skipper is just not good enough. Maguire has been highly inconsistent and needs to be replaced.
Transfer: Man Utd told £76million would get signing done – Report
According to a report covered by Football Insider, the Red Devils believe they will be able to sign Antonio Rudiger if they can appoint Thomas Tuchel as their permanent manager.
The German international’s current deal at Stamford Bridge will expire in June and he has already rejected contract offers from the Blues.
The news source have mentioned that Rudiger wants to earn a contract worth £300,000 a week i.e. £15.6million a year and Man Utd are prepared to agree such a deal to secure his signature.
It is stated that the Old Trafford outfit are paying more than £15.6million a year to a number of players, so, meeting his wage demands would not be a problem for them.
The 29-year-old has been the leader of the backline for Chelsea under the management of Tuchel. He was a key member of the side that won the Champions League last season and the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup this term.
He surely has the quality and experience to improve the defense at Old Trafford. In your view, should Man Utd move in to sign Antonio Rudiger?
