Manchester United are in frustrating talks with Barcelona to hire the services of Frenkie de Jong in the summer transfer window.
According to report published by Sport today (news image provided below), the Catalan club have made it clear that they want 100 million euros from the sale of the Dutch mifielder.
Transfer: Report – Man United ready to agree £34.4million signing
The Spanish media outlet have stated that the Red Devils will never come close to the figure mentioned above and they are not willing to pay a penny more than 80 million euros.
So far, the Old Trafford outfit have offered an initial payment of 70 million euros and the remaining 10 million euros in add-ons but no agreement has been reached.
The Catalan source claim that Man Utd have threatened to break off the negotiations if the price is not fair. Keeping in view that Barca need the funds, they could accept an offer worth 80 million euros for De Jong if the variables are few and easy to achieve.
It is stated that the La Liga giants would like the transfer to be completed before the end of this month (June 30).
As far as the personal terms are concerned, Sport claim that United will not negotiate a contract with the 25-year-old until they have reached an agreement with Barcelona. However, personal terms are not going to be complicated.
Erik ten Hag has already explained the project to the Netherlands midfielder and the fallen giants are willing to agree a deal that will make the player earn way more than what he currently gets at the Nou Camp.
This means that Man Utd are prepared agree a deal worth over £290,000 a week (Marca) to sign De Jong. For the latest updates on the transfer saga, watch this space.
