It will be fair to say that Manchester United are out of the title race and they need major reinforcements to challenge the best of teams in England and in the continent.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are looking to sign Uruguayan international and Barcelona center back, Ronald Araujo.

According to a recent report coveted by El Nacional, the 22-year-old is a wanted player in the market but the Old Trafford outfit are the most interested in securing his signature.

The Catalan news source have mentioned that Man Utd are prepared to bid over 30 million euros to sign the player’s whose current deal at the Nou Camp will expire in 2023.

Araujo has regularly started for Barca this season and he is considered to be the future of the club. As per Sport, the South American defender is not happy with his current salary and wants a bumper pay rise to stay. It is stated that he already has significant offers on the table that he can accept if his demands are not met by Barcelona.

As far as the asking price is concerned, 10 days back, El Nacional reported that a fee of 45 million euros (£38million) could be enough to get his signing done.

In the summer transfer window, Man Utd splashed the cash to sign a proven star in the form of Raphael Varane. Moreover, they already have Maguire, world’s most expensive defender.

  1. Another daft spree. It’s not like the team is shifting goals. Quite the contrary in fact. There’s no cohesion, there’s no style, morale is low. You can’t buy your way out of these problems.
