For many years at Old Trafford, Manchester United had a steady presence in between the sticks in the form of David de Gea.

The Spanish shot-stopper is one of the best that the Premier League has seen and his peak is unparalleled.

Transfer – Man Utd told £11.4million a year deal will immediately seal signing – Report

Last season, the club finally let David de Gea leave on a free transfer and replaced him with Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana. To say the Cameroonian shot-stopper had a difficult initiation to life in England would be an understatement.

However, through the course of the season, Onana showed signs of improvement. The talented shot-stopper slowly yet surely grew into his current role and currently, despite having the odd mistake in him, he has emerged as one of the team’s better players.

As per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd however are prepared to pay a big fee to sign Spain number one. Unai Simon, from Athletic Bilbao. A very underrated keeper, the 27-year-old has been a regular for club and country for quite some time now.

He currently earns around £69,000 a week at the Basque club. Unai Simon is out of action after being operated on the wrist for an issue and it could be some time before he is seen in action for Bilbao or Spain.

Athletic Bilbao are never a pleasant club to negotiate with. They are very self-sufficient due to the way they run their business model.

He recently signed a new contract until 2029 and the entire power rests with the club in this regard.

As much as Manchester United want to make this signing, realistically, there seems to be no way the La Liga side entertain any offer for him. It remains to be seen how the Red Devils go about this particular transfer saga.
