Man Utd prepared to pay under £59.8million with signings expected to be secured – Journalist

Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich

Man Utd’s raid of Bayern Munich is still very much on course but a deal is yet to be agreed with the German club for the sale of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Talks continue with both players waiting for an Old Trafford move this summer.

Both players are represented by Rafaela Pimenta who is trying to negotiate an exit for his clients. According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd are trying to agree a deal under £59.8m to sign the duo.

“The conversation continues with Bayern with the players’ side, because the same agent – Rafaela Pimenta – represents Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, with both players expected to join Manchester United this summer.”

“With Bayern, there is still no agreement because Bayern want €50million guaranteed for De Ligt and something around €20m for Mazraoui. So a package of €70m (£59.8million), but Manchester United want to pay less than this. So the conversation is ongoing, but with confidence that De Ligt is only waiting for Manchester United.”

Both players have previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax at different times and want to reunite with their former boss. The Dutch coach is looking to rebuild his team at Old Trafford and adding the duo to his defence would be smart this summer.

Mazraoui is a versatile right-back who is equally comfortable playing on the left. The Moroccan international is excellent going forward and has the physicality to adapt defensively. He will be an upgrade on Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The more important signing for Man Utd though has to be Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch international captained Ajax at the age of 19 and the world was supposed to be his oyster but he has failed to live up to the initial promise.

Despite having stints with Juventus and Bayern Munich, De Ligt has only shone in moments. The 24-year-old is still very young and has a huge future ahead of him. If he signs for Man Utd, he could lead the backline at Old Trafford for more than half a decade.

Fans will be hoping that Man Utd can wrap up a deal for both these players as soon as possible. Amidst all the injuries, the fans need good news and let’s hope these transfers can put a smile on their faces.
