Back in 2016, Manchester United broke their transfer record to re-sign Paul Pogba from Juventus and handed him a deal (The Daily Mail) worth £15million a year (£290,000 a week).
The French international will be out of contract next summer and the Red Devils have been trying to agree a new deal with him for a long time. Now, reports suggest that they might fail to agree terms with the Les Bleus midfielder.
Transfer: Eager Man Utd want £60million signing done – Face competition next summer
Earlier this month, The Sun reported that the Old Trafford outfit held talks with super agent Mino Raiola and offered his client an enormous fresh deal worth £400,000 a week.
However, ESPN revealed yesterday that after making consistent efforts, Man Utd have failed and are prepared to secure his exit for absolute nothing upon expiry of the contract (June 2022).
The renowned news source have mentioned that the 20-time English champions have the option to sell him in the January transfer window but it is stated that the owners would like to keep him at least until the end of the campaign.
Pogba has been consistently brilliant for the national side but in all fairness, he has been highly inconsistent since returning to Old Trafford. Therefore, I do not think his departure will be a massive loss but we must sign a long term replacement.
The 28-year-old midfielder was shown straight red card minutes after coming on as a second half substitute against Liverpool last Sunday. He was sent to change the game in favor of Man Utd but ended up making things worse.
In your view, who should Man Utd sign to replace Paul Pogba?
