Manchester United have a lot of work to do on the current squad before they can be considered as having an exciting project and Ruben Amorim has been the man entrusted with the task of trying to return the club to their former glory days.
It won’t be long before Man Utd start generating the tag of fallen giants, having failed to win a Premier League title in more than a decade now. Currently, they are nothing more than a mid-table club in the English top flight.

For Amorim to try and build something in Manchester, he will have to be backed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe in the upcoming transfer window in the summer and one can certainly envision a clear out and potential reinforcements.
Now, as per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd are plotting an ambitious attempt to sign Barcelona star defender Alejandro Balde next summer who is said to be valued at around £41.6m and are willing to make sacrifices to make this happen.
As per the report, the Red Devils are willing to part ways with talented Argentinian attacker Alejandro Garnacho to make space for Balde to arrive in the squad. The Spaniard would fit into the team and is the perfect profile that the club needs.
The left wing-back area has been a position of concern for Amorim and despite signing Patrick Dorgu in the winter transfer window, the Portuguese tactician might want to sign someone else as well for this position in the summer.
Garnacho is a player United have considered selling even in the winter and the £70m-rated star could be placed on the transfer list in the summer. Despite his talent, it looks like Amorim is willing to let go the Argentinian forward.
However, Man Utd might not have the competitive pull to convince Alejandro Balde to abandon an exciting project in Barcelona to come to a struggling one in Old Trafford.
It remains to be seen what the future holds with regards to this transfer saga and only time will tell how it plays out.
