Manchester United are at the nascent stages of a new project under Ruben Amorim and the Portuguese tactician has already made a few ruthless calls in his fleeting career as the Red Devils manager. For example, Amorim didn’t take long to cast aside Marcus Rashford from his plans.

Similarly, the manager has also made calls like making Manuel Ugarte a guaranteed starter over Casemiro and it is very evident here that he is not looking to waste any time.

If he continues to operate in a similar manner, one can say with some assurance that Amorim might have already started planning for next season.

Now, as per Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd are prepared to submit an offer for talented 21-year-old Brazilian right-back Wesley who plays for Flamengo, quick on the heels of Zenit submitting a £24.9million bid for him.

Despite his tender age, Wesley has attracted interest from a number of clubs around Europe due to his speed, attacking desire and technical ability and it does seem like he will end up at one of the top clubs sooner rather than later.

The Brazilian youngster has a contract with Flamengo until 2028 and Man Utd will have to pay the player’s asking price in all likelihood to secure his services ahead of next season. In Amorim, the PL side have a coach who would trust what young players bring to the table.

Man Utd play with a back three and two wing-backs in Amorim’s system and this would suit someone like Wesley who is much better going forward than he is tracking back. He could provide ideal cover to the likes of Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui.

With Mazraoui also capable of playing as one of the three central defenders, it will not lead to overbooking of options in the central region either, something that is always a concern when big clubs make signings.

Let’s wait and see if the Red Devils wrap up a deal for Wesley in the months to come.
