Kalvin-Phillips-England-and-Leeds

Manchester United have been linked with England international, Kalvin Phillips, for a long time and his name is once again on the radar.

Last year, former manager, Solskjaer, was interested in luring the Leeds United midfielder (The Star), and now, reports indicate that he is also targeted by Erik ten Hag.

Transfer: Man Utd will submit offer to sign £72million star – Report

According to a report covered by Manchester Evening News, with the appointment of the Dutch boss, Man Utd are now ready to advance with talks to lure the 26-year-old star.

The 19-capped player’s current deal with the Elland Roard outfit will expire in the summer of 2024 and the news source have mentioned that he could cost around £60million.

In the current midfield setup, Man Utd neither have a specialist play breaker nor a quality deep-lying playmaker. It has already been confirmed that Nemanja Matic will be leaving the Red Devils in the summer.

Moreover, Pogba will be out of contract in June and the Les Bleus midfielder could be set to depart Old Trafford as well. In such a scenario, Phillips, who has proved to be a quality regista, would be a top signing.

He was a key member of the Three Lions squad that reached the final of the European Championships last year. Azzurri legend, Andrea Pirlo, who was a brilliant deep-lying playmaker, is a huge fan of the Whites’ star (The Athletic).

Leeds and Man Utd are bitter rivals and therefore, getting this deal over the line should not be straightforward. For the latest updates on the transfer saga, watch this space.
