Man Utd ready to agree £31.2million terms with OT star – Report

De Gea MUFC

David De Gea is the highest earning superstar at Old Trafford and Manchester United are prepared to extend his stay but by reducing his wages.

According to Football Insider, Man Utd are ready to agree a deal that will make the Spanish international earn £200,000 a week, £31.2million in the next three years.

At the moment, the former Atletico Madrid star takes home a huge salary of around £375,000 a week.

De Gea was signed from the Rojiblancos back in 2011 by Sir Alex Ferguson and the La Roja shot stopper was a key member of the side that won the Premier League title in 2013.

The 32-year-old has won the Manchester United’s Player of the Year on four occasions but in recent years, his form has been average, especially after the 2018 World Cup.

Due to inconsistent performances, the veteran goalie was not even included in the Spanish squad for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

This season, in 22 league appearances so far, the 45-capped international has conceded 28 goals and kept 8 clean sheets.

It must be remembered that we do have a talented goal keeper in the form of Dean Henderson, who has not been able to get a fair chance at Old Trafford in the presence of De Gea. The Englishman is currently playing on loan for Nottingham Forest.

Have your say – Should Man Utd extend De Gea’s stay at the club?

  1. Henderson won’t stay beyond the Summer as long as de Gea is still at the club.
The new owners may not be bothered about keeping de Gea as the world’s most expensive reserve keeper but Henderson will want parity at least to stay and be United’s no.1. Is he worth it? No! There are better, cheaper goalkeepers out there that don’t make waves or leak stories like Henderson.
It is time for de Gea to go though, he just isn’t the right fit for Ten Hag’s preferred style of play.
