Manchester United star Jesse Lingard was heavily linked with a move away from the club in the summer transfer window after a brilliant spell on loan with West Ham United.

However, in the end, the star stayed put and lately, he has been brilliant in the Premier League under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Transfer: Man Utd lead to secure signing of £60million playmaker – Report

According to an exclusive story covered by Football Insider, Man Utd are ready to agree lucrative terms to extend the contract of Lingard in order to ward off interest in the January transfer window.

The news source have mentioned that the 28-year-old England international has already rejected one offer and now the Red Devils are going to offer him an extremely fruitful deal in the coming weeks.

Last season, in 16 league starts for the Hammers, Lingard directly contributed in 14 goals (9 goals and 5 assists) under David Moyes. This season, so far, he has not started any game for Man Utd as yet and has only featured for 63 minutes, still he has managed to score 2 goals.

He found the net in the 4-1 victory against Newcastle United and yesterday, he scored a sublime goal late on to earn maximum points against West Ham.

In all fairness, at the moment, the £100,000 a week star (The Athletic) is clearly the better option as compared to big money signing, Jadon Sancho, who is finding it hard to settle in the Premier League.

In your view, should Man Utd agree a bumper new deal with Jesse Lingard?
