Man Utd set eyes on signing £36,000 a week versatile star – Report

Franck Kessie

Manchester United may end up losing record signing, Paul Pogba, for nothing next summer if he does not pen a new deal with the club.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are preparing for the departure of the French international by targeting the signing of Franck Kessie from AC Milan.

Transfer: Man United ready to agree terms with their £100,000 a week star – Report

According to Tutto Sport (via Il Milanista), the Rossoneri are unable to meet the wage demands of the 24-year-old midfielder, who is looking to earn a maximum of 7 million euros annually. The Serie A giants are only prepared to pay 5 million euros a year.

In such a scenario, it is possible that the African star may leave the club next summer upon expiry of his contract and the Old Trafford outfit are interested in hiring his services. At the moment, the 48-capped player is earning a very low salary of 2.2 million euros a season i.e. around £36,000 a week (Corriere dello Sport via Paisley Gates).

More recently, Spanish source Mundo Deportivo, have reported that Man Utd have set their sights on signing Kessie, who is also on the radar of other top European clubs.

The former Atalanta man is a versatile talent, who can effectively play as a play breaker and also as a creative central midfielder. Last season, he netted 14 goals and also provided 6 assists for AC Milan.

Man Utd have not reinforced their central midfield for over three years and in all fairness, they should move in to strengthen the department in January and must not wait for the summer.

In your view, should Ole splash the cash to sign Franck Kessie?
