Man Utd set to make deal-breaking bid to finally seal signing – Report

Antony Brazil

Manchester United have seen bids worth €80m and €90m turned down (The Athletic) by Ajax and now, they are ready to come up with another offer.

According to The Mirror, Man Utd are set to make one last deal-breaking bid to finally sign Antony from the Dutch champions.

The renowned British news have mentioned that the Eredivisie giants are looking to get a fee of £84.8million from the sale of their prized asset.

Antony has made it clear he wants to move to Old Trafford. He was not part of the Match Day squad against Sparta Rotterdam last weekend and now, he does not want to feature in today’s contest versus Utrecht.

The 22-year-old Olympic champion directly contributed in 22 goals last season and missed the last couple of months due to an ankle injury.

This season, the young South American attacker scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in the opening 3 games for the Dutch side but his focus is to sign for Manchester United.

Back in 2016, the Old Trafford outfit broke their transfer record (Sky Sports) by signing Paul Pogba in a deal worth £89million. On the other hand, in 2019, United paid £80million to lure Harry Maguire from Leicester City (BBC).

So, if Man Utd splash £84.8million, Antony would become the second biggest signing in the history of this massive club. After chasing him for months and reaching so close to Ajax’s asking price, it would make no sense to call the deal off.

Therefore, it will not come as any surprise if United end up paying £84.8million to seal his signing. In your view, is the price tag justified? Are we paying over the odds for the Brazilian winger?
