Manchester United have struggled to get a single point on the pitch in recent weeks under Ruben Amorim.
The impressive Manchester derby win seems more like a fluke than anything else and the Red Devils need some sort of inspiration.
News – Man Utd will advance bid to sign £80million star in January – Report
Whenever clubs are down and in the dumps, one inspirational signing could help transform for the second half of the season.
The Old Trafford outfit themselves have seen this happen in the past when Bruno Fernandes was signed all those years ago.
They need a similar shot of confidence this season and would be best advised to sign a striker who knows how to find the back of the net. Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have failed to be clinical for quite some time now.
Thus, Man Utd would do well by signing someone like Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram for the second half of the season. The Frenchman has a release clause of around £70m in his current contract and Man Utd could potentially look at that.
Thuram is currently the joint leading goalscorer in the Serie A with 12 goals and six assists in 17 appearances. He also scored and assisted 13 times each in Inter Milan’s Scudetto winning campaign last season.
As good as Marcus Thuram has been for Inter Milan though, if Man Utd want to sign him, they will have to make at least a couple of big sales.
Having spent big in the summer, the Red Devils do not have much room to work with in the January window.
On paper, signing someone like Marcus Thuram could have an inspirational effect on the team. If the financials can be sorted, then United should secure his signing.
