Manchester United have been linked with a number of central defenders and the latest name in the lime light is that of Andreas Christensen.
According to Spanish source, Nacional, Man Utd are offering 40 million euros (£34million) to sign the Danish international from Barcelona.
Transfer: Contract agreed – Man United press to close £50million signing – Report
The Catalan outlet have mentioned that the La Liga giants see United’s offer with good eyes since the player was lured on a bosman last summer.
However, it is reported that Barca manager and legend, Xavi Hernandez, is not ready to sell the star defender and considers him one of the “non-transferable” players.
Before moving to Spain, Christensen was a hit in England with Chelsea. The 27-year-old won the League Cup, the FA Cup, Europa League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup with the Blues.
In the debut season at the Nou Camp, the 63-capped international won the Spanish Super Cup and the La Liga trophies.
He missed 11 league games due to fitness concerns but when fit, he was in top form. He started 22 games in the league for the Blaugrana and helped the team keep 13 clean sheets.
Christensen would be a quality signing if Erik ten Hag can somehow secure him but we are actually linked with a much better player in the form of Kim Min-Jae.
The Korean international was named the best defender in the Serie A and reports indicate he is close to moving to Old Trafford.
