Man Utd submit bid to sign £98,000-a-week, £42.5m ex Genk man – Journalist

Koulibaly and Skriniar

Manchester United have already agreed a deal with Real Madrid to sign a world class central defender in the form of Raphael Varane. The Frenchman will likely partner skipper Harry Maguire in the central defense next season.

So, the Red Devils do not need to sign another center back this summer. Still, they are linked with another top star, Senegalese international, Kalidou Koulibaly.

Transfer: £78,000-a-week star will agree deal to sign for Manchester United – Journalist

According to Italian journalist Carlo Nesti, Man Utd have made a bid to sign the Napoli star, who is open to moving to the decorated Premier League side but the offer was turned down by club president, Aurelio de Laurentiis. Nesti stated (via Area Napoli).

“The first concern, Kalidou Koulibaly. Manchester United have offered 30 million to Napoli.”

“Aurelio De Laurentiis said no to the English proposal, but the player said he was open to the possibility of going to play in such a prestigious club. There could be new assaults on Napoli for the Senegalese.

The ex Genk man has been one of the most consistent stars in the Serie A for Napoli. The two time Senegalese Player of the Year earns around £98,000-a-week (La Repubblica), his current deal with the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona outfit will expire in 2023 and as per reports, he is valued at (£42.5million) 50 million euros (Corriere dello Sport).

So, Man Utd have to raise the bid if they are to hire the services of the 30-year-old star. However, as I have mentioned above, now that Ole is getting Varane, there is absolutely no dire need to splash the cash on another central defender.

The Old Trafford club do have the likes of Lindelof, Bailly, Tuanzebe and Jones in the back-up. In your opinion, who should Solskjaer sign next in the summer transfer window?
