Manchester United need major reinforcements and it is baffling that so far, they have not secured any key signing in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with Switzerland international, Denis Zakaria, and the latest reports indicate that they have moved in with a bid to sign him before deadline.
Transfer: Man United prepared to pay big to sign £67million star – Report
A week ago, The Mirror reported that the Old Trafford outfit have tracked the Borussia Monchengladbach play-breaker and the £25million man could be the likeliest new arrival this winter.
The Premier League giants can agree a pre-contract with the player this month because his current deal with the German side will expire in June. However, they are in no mood of waiting.
As per an update provided today by Spanish source, Fichajes, Man Utd have submitted an offer worth 10 million euros to sign Zakaria in the current transfer window. It is stated that they may have to deal with a counter-offer from Liverpool, who are also after the Bundesliga star.
The 40-capped international turned 25 last November, so, he is in his peak years and if United can lure him for just 10 million euros then it would be a massive bargain.
Interim coach, Ralf Rangnick, is trying to implement his pressing style of play but for that, the German manager needs a specialist play-breaker. With Matic past his best, there is no natural defensive midfielder to win the ball in the center of the park.
Therefore, Man Utd must press hard to sign Denis Zakaria. We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming days.
