Man Utd to secure £25million first Amorim signing today – Report

January has come and gone and February is here and it looks like finally, Manchester United are poised to make a winter window signing.

It has been long time coming and the Red Devils actually needed more but that is a conversation for a different time.

One position that the Red Devils definitely needed to reinforce this window was a wing-back on the left side of defense.

It has been an area of concern for Manchester United for the past couple of seasons with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia suffering from injuries.

So far, Ruben Amorim has been forced to use Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui extensively on a side they aren’t really comfortable in and it does say something when you factor in that none of them have provided a single assist or a goal from that side of the pitch under the Portuguese coach in 18 games.

All that could find a solution imminently as Man Utd are set to secure the signature of Lecce wing-back Patrick Dorgu for £25million today, as per iNewsi Weekend [image attached at the end]. The Dane would be exactly what Amorim needs.

Dorgu has been a breakout star in Serie A for a couple of seasons now. Playing as both a wing-back (last season) and a right winger this season. the youngster has shown he has a lot of potential and would be a good fit for Amorim.

The Portuguese tactician has also shown an acumen for developing young players during his time at Sporting CP and that might be the route he takes at Old Trafford as well. It is always easier to mould players when they are just breaking through.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United make the signing of Dorgu official later today, once his medicals conclude. This is a very smart piece of business from the Red Devils and let’s hope Dorgu helps propel Amorim’s project to the next level.
