Manchester United are yet to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window despite all the ongoing struggles.
If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are eager to hire the services of Brighton right back, Tariq Lamptey.
Transfer: Man Utd submit offer to sign £25million play-breaker before deadline – Report
According to The Daily Mail, Ralf Rangnick wants an upgrade on the current right back options and Man Utd are keen to sign the English fullback from the Seagulls.
The renowned British source have mentioned that the Old Trafford outfit value the 21-year-old at £30million, however, the Falmer Stadium outfit want around £40million from the sale of their starlet.
It is stated that there are question marks over the attacking abilities of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and the defensive qualities of Diogo Dalot, therefore, the German manager is looking for an upgrade.
Lamptey is a pacy defender, who can effectively play in the wing back position. He made his first Premier League appearance of this season in October 2021 after returning from a long term hamstring injury. So far, the former Chelsea player has only started 7 league games for Brighton this term
Man Utd’s rivals have top quality fullback options who have proved to be highly effective not only defensively but also in the attacking third. Man City have Walker and Cancelo, Liverpool have Alexander-Arnold and Robertson and Chelsea have James and Chilwell/Alonso.
Therefore, the Red Devil surely needs more from their fullbacks to compete with the best teams. In such a situation, should they pay £40million to sign Tariq Lamptey?
Tariq Lamptey would be an absolute upgrage on AWB and other fullbacks.TL can play fullback and wing back but in my opinion why don’t United sign a defensive midfielder first??
