As per today’s version of O Jogo (press image provided below), Man Utd want priority signing of Neves to strengthen things in the center of the park.

The news source have mentioned that Premier League and European Champions, Manchester City, are also paying close attention to the 19-year-old midfielder.

Portugal superstars like United captain, Bruno Fernandes, and City playmaker, Bernando Silva, have already admitted that Neves would be a good reinforcement for their respective teams.

However, O Jogo claim that Benfica are not prepared to lose their prized asset and are determined to keep him.

On Friday night, the teenager featured for full 90 minutes for the Eagles, who defeated Famalicao 3-0 in the league. In the contest, Neves ‘shattered the League record for possession recoveries (17)’.

His current deal contains a release clause of £104million (120 million euros) and the Estadio da Luz outfit are ‘negotiating’ to agree a new contract in order to increase the clause to 150 million euros.

With Casemiro out injured, no one has been able to perform effectively in the defensive midfield role and in turn, the backline has suffered as well.

Hence, a new DM should be lured and a versatile talent like Joao Neves would be a quality signing. The question is, should Man Utd pay £104million to secure him?
