Manchester United after £40m-rated Premier League ace

Jose Mourinho

Manchester United are reportedly said to be considering a move for Watford winger Richarlison ahead of this summer’s transfer window. The Brazilian youth international was regarded as a transfer target for United last summer, but the Hornets won the race for his signature from Fluminense for £11m.

According to The Mirror, Jose Mourinho is supposedly keen on beating former club Chelsea to the 20-year-old who was in sublime form during the early stages of the Premier League campaign. Richarlison impressed with five goals during the opening phase of the season, but his performances have been nowhere near that standard since the turn of the year.

Judging by Mourinho’s recent comments, United are unlikely to pursue another forward during the summer, and the link over Richarlison does not make much sense. Moreover, the Brazilian is another who prefers to play on the left side of the attack, where United are stocked with plenty of talent.

Both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have found themselves on the bench since Alexis Sanchez’s arrival in January, and United should rather focus on extending the contract of the latter, who has regularly been linked with a summer exit.
