Manchester United keeping tabs on £25m-rated teenager

Sessegnon

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon, although the teenager would prefer to stay put in London. The 17-year-old enjoyed a breakout spell with the Cottagers last season, where he managed 25 appearances in the Championship.

According to ESPN, Jose Mourinho’s side are still maintaining their interest in the versatile full-back despite Fulham maintaining their stance that the teenager is not for sale. Apart from his regular left-back role, Sessegnon is also capable of playing at left-midfield and left-wing, and he is being seen as a potential competitor to Daley Blind and Luke Shaw – both of whom have struggled on the left side of the defence.

As things stand, Fulham are keen to keep hold of their graduate, but any plans to sell would favour Tottenham Hotspur due to Sessegnon’s apparent desire to remain in the English capital. The youngster has already been capped by England at the youth level, and he was recently part of the Under-19 side which lifted the European Championship in Georgia.

Manchester United have brought in Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic for a combined sum in excess of £140m, and Mourinho admitted last week that a fourth signing could be beyond the club this summer.
