Manchester United Ready To Make $40Million Move For This Star

Thomas Meunier

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a winter approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier. The Belgium international is currently unsettled at Parc des Princes with manager Unai Emery preferring Dani Alves on the right side of the defence.

According to The Express, the Red Devils have been keeping tabs on Meunier’s progress for a while, and Mourinho could sanction a $40m(£30m) deal for his services during the January transfer window.

The former Club Brugge man has got the odd chance to impress in the French capital this season, but he is seemingly worried that his reduced gametime could have an impact on his World Cup berth with Belgium.

Mourinho has mostly depended on Antonio Valencia to fulfil the right-back/ right wing-back duties, and Meunier could be seen as an ideal competitor due to his knack of assisting as well as scoring goals for club and country.

Meanwhile, The Express suggests that Paris Saint-Germain have to balance their financial books following the summer arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and this could encourage the full-back’s exit at the turn of the year.

Meunier, who has previously confessed his love for Manchester United, has contributed three goals and one assist in six Ligue 1 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain this term.
