According to The Sun, Manchester United ‘will axe’ defender Luke Shaw if they receive a £25m bid. The 22-year-old has struggled for playing under Jose Mourinho this season and is expected to leave to resurrect his fledgling career.
Shaw joined United from Southampton in 2014 and has gone on to make just 66 appearances in all competitions. The English international has suffered from a number of injuries during his four years at Old Trafford, and now he can’t get a game when he is fit.
Ashley Young has been preferred at left-back to Shaw, despite the former being a 32-year-old winger for most of his career. Mourinho just hasn’t trusted the youngster this season and has been outspoken in his criticism over Shaw’s attitude to training.
The 22-year-old has made just eight Premier League starts and has been left out of the matchday squad 15 times this season. It’s clear Shaw’s future is away from Old Trafford and with only one year left on his deal, United will be keen to cash in on him now rather than risk losing him for free next year.
There’s plenty of interest in the left-back, with former side Southampton, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur having been linked, so Shaw should have plenty of choice this summer.
