According to Marca, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho ‘would like to buy’ Real Madrid outcast Lucas Vazquez to replace Anthony Martial. The 27-year-old could be on the move from Real as he’s worried about his chances of regular first-team football next season under Julen Lopetegui. United could capitalise on his situation this summer, but they aren’t alone in their interest.
Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly keen on the Spanish international, with the former looking for depth in their attack due to the uncertain futures of Danny Ings, Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge. Arsenal aren’t short of options, but they might be moving on existing players to make room for a new arrival. United have a greater need for Vazquez as Martial could be on the move.
The French international, who joined the Red Devils from AS Monaco in 2015, struggled for playing time under Mourinho last season and has been seeking an exit from Old Trafford, according to his agent Philippe Lamboley. If Martial is moved on ahead of the new campaign, Vazquez could be his replacement.
The 27-year-old is a right winger, capable of playing wing-back, and would bring dynamism to Old Trafford. He could be a good addition if Martial departs, but a potential deal is in its infancy.
