Not Perisic, Manchester United could move to agree deal with Turkish winger

Barcelona’s Arda Turan has emerged as a fresh target for Manchester United as the transfer window approaches its final phase. Manager Jose Mourinho is on the hunt for a new wideman in order to complete his transfer business for the summer.

Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic has been United’s prime option to bolster the wide position this summer, but it appears that he is less likely to leave the Nerazzurri with manager Luciano Spalletti insisting that the attacker is ‘determined to stay‘.

According to AS, the Turkey international is considering his Barcelona future with coach Ernesto Valverde not considering him as part of his plans. Turan has played second fiddle to the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar over the past two seasons, but the departure of the latter has done him no good with the Catalans in the search for a top-class recruit.

Jose Mourinho is understood to be a long-term admirer of the former Atleti star and he has apparently met him and his representative Ahmet Bulut on multiple occasions. Meanwhile, Super-agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Mourinho, is working alongside Bulut in order to push through his client’s exit from Barcelona.

Former club Galatasaray are for now favourites to pursue the 30-year-old winger, but there could yet be a surprise approach from United with the Special One in the desperate search for a fourth summer signing. Manchester United have spent a combined £145m sum to recruit three players in Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic this summer.
