Yesterday, we covered a story via JN stating that the Old Trafford outfit have a buy back clause to sign Carreras, who has a clause worth 50 million euros, from the Eagles.
Today, another Portuguese outlet have revealed the exact figure agreed between the two clubs.
As per today’s edition of Record (news image provided below), the Benfica No. 3 ‘is in the hands of Manchester United’ as they have the first option to get his signing done.
The renowned media outlet have mentioned that Man Utd can seal the signing of Alvaro Carreras by paying 20 million euros (£16.7million).
It is stated that the £16.7million clause was stipulated in the ‘agreement’ between the Premier League and the Liga Nos sides when they completed the transfer in the summer.
Alvaro Carreras is now the undisputed starter for Benfica in the left back position and this term, so far, he has helped the team keep 4 clean sheets in 7 starts.
The 21-year-old caught the eye of a number of top clubs after his brilliant display against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
Ten Hag has mainly used Dalot, a natural right back, in the LB role this season and things have not worked out well. Should Man Utd pay £16.7million and get Carreras back to finally replace Shaw?
