Manchester United have strengthened their midfield department in the past three summer transfer windows. Still, the Red Devils lack quality and depth in the center of the park and I think, Solskjaer should invest to sign a top midfielder.
Italian international Nicolo Barella has been linked with a move away from Cagliari for quite some time.
In the winter transfer window, Manchester United were one of the clubs interested in luring the Azzurri midfielder. However, the player stayed and it was reported (Corriere dello Sport) that the Serie A side would prefer to lose him in the summer for a maximum price of 50 million euros (£43million).

Now, Barella’s rep Giovanni Branchini has recently compared the 22-year-old midfielder to Man United legend Paul Scholes and also claimed that his client could move to Old Trafford. Branchini stated (Tutto Sport):
“(Barella is an) Extraordinary player. He reminds me of Scholes and I think he can go to Manchester United”
The young midfielder has already played over 100 games for Cagliari. Moreover, so far, he has featured 5 times for the senior national side as well.
Barella is a versatile talent, who could be deployed in multiple midfield positions but mostly, he has played in the central midfield. In the current campaign, so far, he has scored 1 goal and provided 3 assists in 31 league appearances.
In all fairness, the above mentioned stats are not impressive but he has the talent to be a hit in a bigger and better team. In your opinion, should United secure his signing in the summer?
