Back in 2018, Chelsea splashed the cash to make Kepa Arrizabalaga the most expensive goal keeper in the world. It seems that they are not satisfied with the Spaniard and are now linked with Dean Henderson.
According to an exclusive report covered by The Sun, Man United are trying to agree a new deal with the 23-year-old shot stopper, who has been in brilliant form on loan for Sheffield United.
Transfer: Man United backed to sign ‘quailty’ £80million attacking midfielder and a striker
However, the renowned British source have mentioned that Chelsea are interested in signing the English goalie and the Blues have the funds to launch a serious move worth £50million to lure him.
Last year, we opted to hand David De Gea a mammoth new deal around £375,000-a-week (Sky Sports) to keep him at the club despite the fact that he had a season to forget last term.
Unfortunately, the Spanish international has still been inconsistent in the current campaign. In the last league game, his howler helped Spurs take the lead. Without that blunder, we might have ended up winning all three points.
Therefore, I’d love to have Henderson guard our goal next season but with De Gea around, he might think that a regular first team place at Old Trafford would be hard to get.
So, Chelsea might look to take advantage of the scenario to lure the young goal keeper. They have already signed Ziyech and Werner to improve their attack and now, as per The Sun, they could make a big money move for our shot stopper.
For now, Henderson has kept the highest number of clean sheets this season (11 – along with Pope and Alisson). He has only conceded 25 goals in 29 league appearances.
On the other hand, De Gea has conceded 31 goals in 30 PL games even when Solskjaer splashed a huge amount of cash to reinforce his defense last summer.
In your view, should Ole drop/sell De Gea to make Henderson our first choice goalie in the next campaign?
De Gea should be allowed to leave he is now causing Utd more harm than good. He was the same reason why utd couldn’t qualify for top 4. Henderson should be giving a chance.
