There are many positions that Man Utd need to reinforce, but it looks like they are narrowing in on their first signing of the summer. As per GOAL Brasil, the Red Devils are all set to secure the signature of Wolves star Matheus Cunha.
Cunha has been a standout for Wolves so far this season and the Brazilian seems to have taken a few steps forward and it would be the perfect time for him to continue his career at a club of Man Utd’s level and hope to grab more eyeballs.
The 25-year-old recently signed a new contract at Wolves that also had a £53.3million release clause, which is what Man Utd will be triggering to sign him in the upcoming summer. On the surface level, it is a deal that makes a lot of sense.
Cunha has played 31 games across all competitions for Wolves, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists. He would fit perfectly into Ruben Amorim’s system in the 3-4-3 formation and can play anywhere across the front three.
Man Utd don’t have many quality attackers at the moment with the know how of where the back of the net is but that is exactly where Cunha stands out. He is exceptionally clinical in front of goal and this should help out the club in a major way.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Cunha and if Man Utd make him their first signing of the summer. It might take a bit of time before the deal goes through and only time will tell how it plays out.
