Manchester United have been linked with Dayot Upamecano for quite some time and the latest reports are intriguing.
According to The Times, Man United are set to make a move to agree the signing of the French international in the summer transfer window of next year.
The renowned British source have revealed that the central defender has got a release clause of £38million in his contract that will become active in the summer of 2021. It is stated that the Red Devils will move in to activate the clause to hire his services.
In the last season, RB Leipzig had the second best defensive record after champions Bayern Munich and Upamecano is the one who commands Nagelsmann’s back-line.
He was also impressive in the Champions League and was heavily praised by Man United legend Rio Ferdinand for his world class display against the Rojiblancos (The Mail).
The 22-year-old made his debut for France under the management of Didier Deschamps last month and scored his first goal in just his second start.
In the current campaign for Leipzig, so far, the former RB Salzburg starlet has featured in 7 games in all competitions and helped his team keep 5 clean sheets. He’d be in the lime light when the Old Trafford outfit will collide against the German club in the Champions League tonight.
Manchester United have already conceded a dozen goals in the Premier League this term and were only able to keep their first clean sheet last weekend in a dull 0-0 draw against Chelsea.
To compete for the top titles, Solskjaer needs to have a rock solid, reliable defense and the department must be improved as soon as possible. Ideally, the winter transfer window should be utilized to strengthen the squad but then, Upamecano could cost way more than £38million (The Sun).
