Manchester United have been linked with several attacking players this month and one of them is Christoph Baumgartner.
If recent reports in the media are anything to go by then Man Utd are favorites to secure the signing of the Austrian international, who has been in top form for Hoffenheim this term.
Transfer: £127,000-a-week star offered to Manchester United – Report
According to an exclusive story covered by The Sun, the Red Devils are leading other Premier League clubs to lure the 21-year-old playmaker from the German Bundesliga side.
The well-known British outlet have claimed that Baumgartner’s current deal will expire in 2023 and at the moment, his market value is at around £16million.
This season, so far, in all competitions, the young attacking midfielder has directly contributed in 12 goals.
In the Bundesliga, he has started 15 games, scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists. In the last league fixture against Koln, he scored a goal and also provided an assist to earn Hoffenheim all three points.
As far the Europa League is concerned, in the group stages, he directly contributed in 4 goals (2 goals and 2 assists) in just 3 starts (Transfermarkt). For the senior national side, he has scored 2 goals and provided as many assists in 5 appearances.
Man Utd do need to strengthen their attack but they mainly need to lure a right winger and a striker, who would serve the club in the long run.
However, Christoph Baumgartner is mainly a CAM and we already have the likes of Fernandes and Van de Beek for the No. 10 role. Therefore, in my view, their is no real need to sign the Austrian youngster.
