Arsenal have started their new Premier League campaign in the worse possible manner. They have not earned a single point from the first two games and will face champions Manchester City next.
On the other hand, Manchester United have earned four points from their opening fixtures, they were brilliant vs Leeds but average against the Saints. As per reports, both the Gunners and the Red Devils are interested in signing Kieran Trippier.
Transfer: Man Utd told £43million would get signing done this month – Report
According to a story covered by The Daily Telegraph today (press image provided below), the north London club are looking to lure a new right back and have considered signing the ex Burnley fullback from Atletico Madrid.
The well known British media outlet have mentioned that Man Utd are favorites to secure the signing of the 30-year-old defender, who would prefer a to move to Old Trafford. Still, Arsenal are not put off and would try to hire his services if Bellerin leaves.
Trippier played a key role in helping the Colchoneros win the La Liga title last term and he was an important member of Southgate’s England squad that reached the final of the Euro 2020.
In the current campaign, so far, the veteran right back has made substitute appearances for 20 odd minutes (in each of the first two league games) under Simeone. The Argentine manager opted to start Marcos Llorente in the wing-back role vs Celta and Elche.
As far as the fee is concerned, Atletico Madrid have been adamant that their prized asset will only be sold for £51.3million i.e. the release clause in Trippier’s at the Wanda Metropolitano (AS).
In your opinion, who should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sign before the closure of the transfer window?
