Report – Man Utd have resources to offer larger fee to sign £40million star

Manchester United suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of a relegated Cardiff City side to end their miserable Premier League campaign.

Solskjaer has already admitted that it will take a long time for the Red Devils to challenge for the title again (BBC).

I think that first, United should look to get back into the top four next season. For that, they must strengthen the squad in the summer transfer window.

Transfer: £173million clause – Man Utd & Arsenal have made offers to sign player

As far as the midfield department is concerned, Manchester United are linked with Senegalese international and Everton star Idrissa Gana Gueye.

According to The Mail, Man Utd will challenge French champions PSG for the signature of the Toffees player. The British outlet have mentioned that moving to Paris is an attractive option for the £40million rated midfielder but the Old Trafford club have made their intentions clear and have the resources to offer a larger fee to get the signing done.

Opinion:

As far as United’s midfield is concerned, we do know that Herrera is leaving and he is set to join PSG (The Mail) when the transfer window opens. So, Solskjaer must look to replace him.

Moreover, Matic was highly inconsistent in the recently concluded campaign and therefore, United need a quality defensive midfielder as well.

In my opinion, Gueye has what it takes to improve our midfield department and Solksjaer should splash the cash to lure him

The 29-year-old African is naturally a solid holding midfield star, who can effectively play in the creative central midfield role as well. Furthermore, United should look to lure Paris Saint-Germain’s Rabiot, who will be out of contract this summer.

  1. He’s 29 and at best an average midfielder. The reason we are in this mess is because of exactly that – buying less than good! We must set our sights higher if we aspire to the good old days otherwise truly, it will turn out as Ole predicted, many years before we become challengers for anything.
