Manchester United look set to make their first significant move and maybe their only one in terms of arrival this January transfer window.
The Red Devils are very close to securing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce who can be their left wing-back going forward.
News – Report – Man Utd told £70million will get striker signing done
However, it is worth noting that Man Utd are in a situation where they might have to make sales to stay within FFP rules and one of the best ways to generate pure profit is by selling academy players on for a decent fee.
One player who has been continually linked with an exit from the Manchester-based club is Alejandro Garnacho. The South American youngster has been on the radar of Napoli throughout this month as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Until yesterday, it was reported that £60m is what Manchester United want to part ways with Garnacho in the winter window.
Now, as per Corriere dello Sport, the Red Devils have lowered their stance and are prepared to let him go for around £46m (55 million euros).
The report claims that with Man Utd luring Dorgu, they have to make a big sale to go along with the signing. This could be one of the reasons they are willing to part ways with someone as talented as the Argentinian.
Dorgu has the experience of playing in attack so far this season but he is mostly set to be used as a wing-back in Amorim’s system.
Thus, parting ways with Garnacho isn’t a like-for-like exit and it remains to be seen how it impacts the club.
With not long left to go before the transfer window slams shut for one last time this season, it remains to be seen if Napoli reach an agreement with Manchester United to sign Alejandro Garnacho and only time will tell how it plays out.
