Goal-scoring has been a big problem for Manchester United this season, simultaneously, stopping the opposition from scoring has also been a huge issue.

In 26 Premier League appearances this term, they have conceded 37 goals and their goal difference is -7. The Red Devils purchased Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt by spending around £100m last summer but things haven’t improved at the back.

News – Man Utd have to agree £66m-£75m fee to sign versatile player – Report

Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Lisandro Martínez are the other center-back options United currently have. However, Lindelof and Evans have entered the final few months of their respective contracts so they are expected to leave as free agents at the end of this campaign.

Moreover, Martínez has sustained a serious knee injury and as a result, he is set to remain sidelined for a lengthy period.

Now, Caught Offside state that Ruben Amorim’s side want to sign a new defender to strengthen the backline and have been impressed by AFC Bournemouth star, Dean Huijsen, following his eye-catching displays in the Premier League this season.

Man Utd have already started pushing to secure the 19-year-old’s service and the defender has a £50m release clause in his current contract. But, the Cherries want him to sign a fresh term with an increased release clause.

Along with the Old Trafford club, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on purchasing him. Therefore, he isn’t short of potential suitors at the moment.

Huijsen is a 6ft 5in tall centre-back and is comfortable with both feet. In 15 Premier League starts, he has scored two goals and kept five clean sheets this campaign.

Moreover, he has been guiding Andoni Iraola’s side to mount a top-four charge, sitting only one point behind fourth-placed, Manchester City.

In your view, should Man Utd hire Huijsen to strengthen the defence?
