Manchester United spent £80million this summer to make Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the history of the game.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are interested in another Leicester City star, who is also valued at around £80million.

According to Mirror Sport, Man Utd are preparing a transfer raid to sign James Maddison in the winter transfer window and the Old Trafford club are aware that to lure the England international, it would take another huge bid, similar to the £80million that secured signature of Maguire.

Transfer: Man United have offered terms to secure fourth summer signing

The 20-time English champions were interested in luring the 22-year-old in the summer transfer window (The Independent) but the attacking midfielder eventually stayed with the Foxes.

Maddison is a versatile talent, who can effectively play in multiple midfield positions but naturally, he is a central attacking midfielder.

In the last campaign, he started 35 league games for the 2015-16 PL champions and directly contributed in 14 goals (7 goals and 7 assists). The former Canaries man is a brilliant striker of the ball and has the ability to score wonder goals from dead ball situations. Last season, he netted three goals from direct free-kicks.

After the contest between the Sky Blues and the Foxes last season, Pep Guardiola heavily praised Maddison and stated (MEN):

“They’re (Liecester City) so dangerous, Maddison is an incredible player”

In the current campaign, he has provided 2 assists (vs Chelsea and Sheffield United) so far in three Premier League outings. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has recently stated that Maddison is a “quality” player and claimed that he is ready to play for England (talkSPORT):

As per Mirror Sport, Man Utd will make a bid to sign the attacker in the January transfer window but the Foxes might not look to sell him in the middle of the season.

In your view, is Maddison good enough to improve Solskjaer’s squad?
