Report – Manchester United have offered over £26million for defender

Merih Demiral Turkey

Manchester United have splashed the cash to strengthen their central defense in the past few years.

In 2016, the Red Devils lured Eric Bailly from Villareal, in 2017, they hired the services of Victor Lindelof from Benfica and this year, they splashed the cash to make Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the history.

As per reports going on in the media, the Old Trafford club are linked with yet another center half.

Transfer: Man Utd very interested in signing £100million attacking midfielder next summer – Face competition

According to Tutto Juve, Manchester United have offered over 30 million euros (£26million) for Juventus defender Merih Demiral. However, the Italian champions do not want to sell because they believe that like De Ligt, the Turkish international is the future of the club.

Back in July, the 21-year-old left Sassuolo to join the Old Lady in a deal worth 18 million euros (AS) but so far, he has mainly warmed the bench under the management of Maurizio Sarri.

Out of 7 Serie A fixtures, the young center back has only made one appearance last month against Hellas Verona, a contest that Juve won 2-1.

He has been brilliant for the senior international side. Demiral made his debut for Turkey last year and so far, he has played 10 games for them. At the moment, after 8 fixtures, Senol Gunes’ men are on top of their UEFA Euro 2020 qualification group. World Champions France are second due to inferior goal difference.

Demiral has played every minute of every single Euro 2020 qualification game and helped his country keep 6 clean sheets. Turkey have only conceded three goals in the campaign.

I think he needs to leave the Bianconeri to play regular first team football at club level. At the moment, Sarri is using the likes of De Ligt and Bonucci in his starting XI. Juve have also got Rugani in their ranks and not to forget, Italian captain Chiellini (currently out injured) is there as well.

In your view, do Man Utd need another first team central defender? Should they hire the services of Merih Demiral?
